Левантийский импорт в Борисфене
Керамический комплекс Борисфена (раскопки В.В. Лапина, 1960-1980) содержит многочисленные традиционные и редкие импорты - фрагменты тарных амфор, произведенных на Кипре и в разных центрах Левантийского побережья. Импорт из Кипра представлен фрагментами двух массивных высоких округлых ручек и одним округлым дном, которые соотносятся с так называемыми basket-handle амфорами. Части от подобных амфор были обнаружены в Борисфене и позднее. Импорт из Леванта представлен четырьмя верхними частями сосудов с мелкими искривленными ручками и резко переломленными плечами. Такой специфический тип торговых амфор (финикийские амфоры) в керамической коллекции Борисфена определен впервые. Их общая датировка находится в пределах второй половины VII - самого начала VI в. до н.э. Изучение этих необычных для всего понтийского бассейна амфор ставит целый ряд вопросов, связанных с общей проблемой средиземноморской торговли в архаическое время. Для Борисфена - это актуальный вопрос наличия прямых торговых связей с юго-восточной частью Средиземноморья или использования торговых посредников и промежуточных портов. До сих пор неизвестно место левантийской продукции в торговле в пределах Эгеиды. Эмпорий Борисфен открывает новую тему для дискуссий о его роли в средиземноморской и эгейской морской торговле, общей организации этой торговли и конечном потребителе вина, перевозимого в тарных амфорах.
