Боспор

The paper proposes to read in the graffito on the attic black-glazed kylix founded in Kertch at 2017 – yod, beth, and shin: 12 sh(iglu), i.e. a bank receipt the bearer of which was supposed to get this money from the Phoenician trapezites in Panticapaeum. Also, the author analyzes the archaeological, and literary data reflecting the business relations between Phoenicia and the North Shore of the Black Sea from the beginning of VIIth century BC.

Собы­тия, про­ис­хо­див­шие в пред­по­след­нее деся­ти­ле­тие I в. до н. э. на Бос­по­ре, обыч­но вос­ста­нав­ли­ва­ют­ся на осно­ва­нии «Рим­ской исто­рии» Дио­на Кас­сия.

В статье анализируются конские захоронения, обнаруженные в 2006–2007 годах на Восточном некрополе Фанагории. По мнению автора, они могут свидетельствовать о появлении новой варварской группы в Фанагории на рубеже эпох. Это могут быть аспургиане, связанные с сарматским и меотским миром Кубани. Их появление совпало с распространением новых типов надгробных плит с рельефами, изображающими Боспорских всадников.

The article presents an overview of the complex of pottery originating from the basement (CK2) from the settlement Zavetnoe 5 at the Eastern Crimea (fig. 1–2). The chronological boundaries of a series of transport amphorae fit within the interval from the 70s to the 2nd quarter of the 3rd cent. BC. (fig. 3–7). By the same period are dated groups of table uncovered (fig. 9–11), kitchen (fig. 12) and hand-made pottery (fig. 13). There are no specimens of the III cent. BC among the black glaze vessels from the complex (fig. 8).

Layers of mollusk shells on the floors are feature of any rural sanctuary in the Crimean Azov region. Single shells, as well as fish bones, were found in some places of sacrifices. In the ritual practice of rural sanctuaries marine attributes were included in the context of ritual actions determined by the archaic ideas about the world model, which sustained among the rural population during the centuries. «Sea» attributes, on the one hand, symbolized abundance, fecundity, and in this meaning belonged to the circle of symbols of fertility gods.

The article publishes a fragment of a stamped Roman mortarius, accidentally found during construction work in Kerch (antique Panticapaeum). Inspite of all the ordinariness of the stamp, this mark is a unique find for the European Bosporus. The recorded analogies of finds in Moesia and other parts of the Northern Black Sea region (Tyra, Olbia, Chersonessus) allow us to conclude, that mortarius is associated with the presence of Roman troops on the Bosporus in the late 2^nd – early 3^rd centuries AD.

There are investigated 7 published at the last time inscriptions – 4 private letters and 3 curse inscriptions. Two letters have originated from the Taman peninsula (№ 1, 2), one by one from Myrmekion (№ 3), Pantikapaeum (№ 4); all 3 curse inscriptions are from Pantikapaeum (№ 5–7). The author gives more precise dates of the inscriptions: he supports publisher’s dates only in № 1 and № 7, the rest inscriptions he regards as more recent.

Согласно сообщению Диодора, около 438 года до н. э. власть на Боспоре перешла в руки некоего Спартока. Кем был этот Спарток по происхождению и каким образом оказался у власти, источники не дают прямого ответа. Сам текст заметки Диодора об этом событии («при архонте в Афинах Теодоре... в Азии, царствовавшие над Киммерийским Боспором, так называемые Археанактиды, правили 42 года. Власть принял Спарток и правил 7 лет». XII. 31. 1) позволяет с наибольшей степенью вероятности рассматривать его как политический переворот.

Предметом настоящей статьи является тот период в истории Понтийского царства, когда оно предприняло попытку объединить города и племена Черноморского побережья под своей властью. Важным шагом к этому было установление власти Митридата VI Евпатора на Боспоре.
